Concept of Full, Half Full and Empty

The amount of space the liquid occupies, simplify the definition of volume of liquid.

Glass of Water - Empty,  half full and full


The teacher will arrange three glasses and fill two glasses with half full and the other full of water.

The students will be given a brief explaination of the concept of :

(a) Full - means the liquid occupies all the space of the container
(b) Half - means the liquid occupies half of the space of the container
(c) Empty - means there is no liquid in the container

This exercise can be simulated using other containers which can be available in school such as the following :


Disposable Cup

Water conteiners 5 litres

Paper Cup


Mineral Water Plastic Bottle
School Tumbler
