Learning Activity #1 : Spinning Game Board and Cards Game

 
Learning Activity  :  Let's Spin the Wheel
Learning Group        : High achiever's students
Learning Outcome : 
At the end of this activity, the students will enjoy the games and stimulate their brains with the enrichment activity on units of  liquid through numbers on the given colourful cards and learn to add all numbers to derive at the total units scored by their respective group.
Learning Material :
Teacher will prepare the following :
  • Spinning Board  (Colourful spinning board which is divided using four colours - red, blue, green and black)
  • Colourful Card - Three stacks of colourful cards (36 cards each stack) - red, green and blue. Each card will be marked by units in milimetres (ml) and litre  (l)The proposed ditribution of cards marked with units are as follows:


        10 ml (8 cards) ;  20 ml (8 cards); 50 ml (6 cards); 100 ml (4 cards); 
         250 ml(4 cards); 500ml (3 cards) ; and 1000ml or 1L (3 cards)
  •    Worksheet to record the units obtained from the retrieved card.

Playing Rules :
1. Students will be divided into a four groups ( five students each) .
2. The 4 colours on the spinning board refers to the three stacks of red,green and blue cards and the cards will be placed on a table with front side up.
3. Each group will elect or choose a student to record the amount of liquid collected by each group using the given worksheet.
4. Each member o the group will spin “The Spinning Board” and when it stops and the arrow point out to one of the colour. A member of the group will take out one card   and read out loud the volume of liquid stated. 
5. If the arrow point out to the black colour, the group will lost its turn and the turn will be given to the other groups. 
6. The volume of liquid will be recorded until round of 5
7. The group with the highest total units obtained will be declared the winner.













Learning Activity #2 : Add the Volume



Learning Activity  :  Add the Volume of Liquid
Learning Group        : Mix (high and Low) Achievers
Learning Outcome : 
At the end of this activity, the students will enjoy an interactive games and stimulate their brains with the enrichment activity on units of  liquid through adding the numbers of units on the given colourful cards.
Learning Material :
Teacher will prepare the following :
  • Colourful Playing Cards (60 cards)
  • Each card will be printed units in milimetres (ml) and litre  (l)
  • The proposed ditribution of cards marked with units are as follows:

        5 ml (10 cards) ;10 ml (10 cards) ;  20 ml (10 cards); 50 ml (8 cards); 
        100 ml (8 cards); 250 ml(6 cards); 500ml (4 cards) ; and 1000ml or 1L (4 cards)
  •    Worksheet to record the answer and marks obtained from the activity.

Rules and Regulations

Game 1:

1. Students will play the game in two groups (pair between high and low achiever)
2. Appoint a student in the class to be the marshal, recorder and time keeper.
3. The cards will be shuffles and marshal withdraw two cards from the stack.
4. 30 seconds will be given for students to add the numbers on the cards
5. The pair of students write the answers on the given worksheet and display their answers.
6. The teacher will announce the answer and 2 marks will be given for the correct answer.
7. The game continues until all cards are withdrawn.
8.The marshal will tally marks of the correct answers and the highest marks obtained by the group will be announced as winner

Learning Activity #3 : Colour and Match

Learning Activity  :  Let's colour the shape and match
Learning Group        : Low achiever's students
Learning Outcome : 
At the end of this activity, the students will enjoy the games while understanding the basic concept of full, half and empty using simple steps and techniques through fun activity

Learning Material :
Teacher will prepare the following :
  • Shapes of a container printed on A4 paper 
  • Coloured pencils or crayon 
  • Coloured paper
  • Scissors and gum (liquid)


Games Rules and Procedure 



1. Students will be divided into four groups ( five members each) and be given a set of printed shapes for the activity.
2. The students will read the printed shape and decided either to colour it or use coloured paper
3. If they choose to use coloured paper they will cut the colour paper to paste into the shape.


Example : Coloured shape half and full. Non coloured -empty


5.Students will then measure the coloured shape and fill in the blanks with the units of volume.
